Is Going To The Cinema A Dying Art - Ise Obomhense
Movie Fans The World Over
The experience of going to the cinema to watch a film is not as much fun as it used to be. However I still enjoy going with friends to watch a new film, but the difference is I enjoy the company and the film. While the thought of going to the cinema used to be exciting, and seeing the film on a big screen and having the full effect was fun. What happens now is I just manage to enjoy watching the film with teenagers being noisy and hitting your chair. They also play with their phones. The fun fades away and becomes anger. You want to tell the teenagers to shut up or leave and sometimes you do, but that only gets them riled up. And at the end you have given them what they want which is attention.
I remember watching a film two years ago and getting fed them as a group of teenagers were making noise. Another person had already told to be quite and they ignored her so I finally left theatre to find someone to complain. To my shock and dismay I could not find anyone. So here I was annoyed and I had missed part of the film, with nothing left to do I went back in and watched the rest of the film. After the film of course there were so many people ready to clean the theatre, but an hour ago I could not find anyone how frustrating. I decided to make a complaint about and the young girl asked me why I did not come out looking for someone. This made me angry that she would even question me and not even give a valid reason for no one being around when I came out. What made it worse was she did not even apologise for the fact that I missed some of the movie I spent money to watch. So she gave me the options of speaking to a manager which I decided to do. At the end my friend and I were offered to watch a film for free the next time we come into the Odeon.
I was still very angry but as my friend pointed that is the best we are going to get. From then on going to the cinema has never been the same. I was always looking forward to going to the cinema. Now I try not to get angry with the other people in theatre or teenagers who are being a pain. This is all the time. The question why do I still do it? The answer is I still like to see the film on a big screen with all the special effects. So going to the cinema is still on my agenda to further notice. However I am going less and less as time passes.Today you can have a home cinema set up at home and you save money. With time I can see going to the cinema dying out but at the moment new insentives are thought up such as Orange, Wednesday and the Odeon card to keep people coming and interested. I have to confess that I have an odeon card. So maybe there is time before going to the cinema dies out.
