Life after Percy - March 17, 2008

For a while after Percy died Cappuccino seemed to look for him. Cappuccino and Percy slept together on the futon every morning, and I think Cappuccino wondered where his friend was. Puffin also seemed a bit confused. Wooster saw Percy right after he died, and so being a very smart cat he may have realized what had happened.

The biggest change for everyone was at mealtime. Percy had been such a big fan of wet food that the kitties got two servings each day. We continued that for a little while, but it soon became apparent that Percy had been eating well over half of it, and one serving daily would be better for everyone.

Rest in Peace Percy - February 03, 2008

Percy the Cat died February 3rd, 2008

Percy passed away peacefully in his sleep at 4:30am this morning. I heard a little gasp, we turned on the lights, and Percy was gone. It was very quick.

We will miss him.

When we adopted him in 1999 the shelter though he was about 5. I always thought he seemed older than that would have made him.

In his last years Percy was taking three medicines, one for his heart, one for blood pressure, and one for thyroid - as well as special potassium to mix into his food. He had to have special cream made by a pharmacy to put the medicines in his ear, as he was quite a brat about taking pills.

August Heat Wave in San Diego - August 30, 2007

It is hot here in San Diego this week. This should not be too surprising, as it is August and we are pretty near to the desert.

The cats have all been even sleepier than they usually are during the hot afternoons, coming alive once things cool off in the evening.
